Gilroy

Being lazy bones and consuming sticks whole day is exceptionally a tough activity for me to achieve. So I decided to move my bottoms from the couch, start the TIIDA engine and explore the magaliesberg village; 34.7 miles from San Marino. With two other jokers in the car at 1300 hrs the trip was assumed to be filled with fun and excitement. After traveling more than half a distance, the high infrastructure was still visible to me far in the horizon through the right concave glass. The next signboard which hit on my brain was an old wooden board reading glass art gallery with fading colors standing erect in the bushes. The next thing we did was to find ourselves inside a small farm covered by high trees, wooden rondavels, cars parked in odd fashion. To our surprise, the soothing place has half dozen shops selling equipments and accessories well crafted and designed with glass, a mini glass factory, single restaurant, small general store and Gilroy. Gilroy- an authentic South African beer cum brew parlor where the old man brews his own beer and gives four options to his valued customer’s viz. lager, favorite, traditional and serious. And the serious one being called as the Truck driver’s beer. Gilroy- young by heart, smile on face, pipe between the lips, enjoying favorite, wearing his own T with a cowboy jacket ages 70. ‘Are you being served’ was the first sentence which made contact between us. On denying the beer, another punch was given to Mohit by saying ‘why do you want to go heaven with a frown face?’ By appearance the place looks like a stud farm with its own old customers and few new ones like us. The traditional was one hell of a drink which i would ve appreciated after several decades..After spending some quality and memorable hours at Gilroy we finally bowed with the sunset; remembering the last words from his big mouth: ‘at least now you know wherez your local bar is….’
